There was no means of identification, except W. H, Brooks engraved on his watch. MELANCHOLIA CAUSES SUICIDE. Christchurch, Feb. 14. The body of Hannah Elizabeth Johnston, a young women who lmd been missing from her home at Sydenham since Wednesday, was found in the Heathcote River this morning. Evidence at the inquest showed that i'er health had been unsatisfactory. Deceased was subject to fits of depression.' At the inquest on Charles Rayfleld, who died at the military hospital under an anaesthetic, evidence showed that deceased had been previously operated on under an anaesthetic. The Coroner gave a verdict that deceased died while under an anaesthetic, administered to enable the performance of a necessary operation. SUICIDE BY POISONING' Dargaville, Feb. 14. James W. Adams, 45 years of age, a blacksmith at Kaihu, committed suicide this morning by taking "rough-on-rats." His wife and children were visiting the South, except one child, which he asked to go to a neighbor's, as he was going to take poison. The boy told a neighbor, who, with others neighbors, did what they could. Dr. Burton went out from Dargaville, hut Adams died shortly afterwards. He leaves a wife and nine children. Deceased had been giving way to drink.
