STRATFORD.

Mr. Charles Callon, organiser for the New Zealand Chautauqua movement, arrived in Stratford to-day for the purpose of- meeting the local committee and making arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Chautauqua to Stratford. At the recent' meeting of the sub-com-mittee in charge of the arrangements for the Stratford school excursion to Moturoa next month, i' was depided to ask Mahoe, Cardiff, Pembroke Koad, and Bird Road schools to join in. It reported that the preparations are well in Land, and an enjoyable outing is promised. The members of the local fire brigade are putting in a great deal of time practising for the various events in the Taranaki Fire Brigade demonstration in Stratford Domain next Thursday.
On February 19th, the schools will be re-opening, and the kiddies are now preparing to resume their lessons, after the long holiday they have had. The selection of school requirements is an important matter, and wise parents will make a point of inspecting the full stock _at H. J. Hopkins,', bookseller and stationer, Broadway. Here they will find everything the kiddies require, and always at the lowest possible price.
