Speaking in the Italian Senate on the general European situation, Signor Nitti (the Premier) said his impression was that every nation was engaged in a race to death. Italy must pursue rigid retrenchment and drastic restriction of consumption. Fiume telegrams state that resistance ia 'being prepared against either a compromise or the execution of the Pact of London. All foreigners will be expelled if necessary.
CARDINALS WANT MORE PAY. London. Feb. 10. Rome telegrams state that owing to the cost of living tho Curia of Cardinals has asked the Pope to increase their annual allowances.
