- I THE WOOL CLIP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Wellington, Feb. 11. In a statement regarding the wool clip, as valued on January 31, Mr. Massey said that tho wool from the Auckland district was not quite so well grown as last season's, but Is a shade finer. In Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay tlie drought affected the clip. In some case 3 the wool Is half-perished and has a rough tip. In Southern Hawke's Bay and Walroa the wools are mainly well-grown and in light condition, while In Wellington and Wanganui the dry season has made tho wool tender, but lambs' wool Is better than the average. The Waltara clip showed an Improvement, and that lit Nelson is a good average quality. In Blenheim the coast and back-country wools catrae In flrst-cl.Tss order, but overstocking and the dry autumn affected the wools from other parts of the district. Wools from Chrlstchurch a.nd Tlmaru were robust and almost entirely free from tender fleeces. The severe winter In the Oamaru, Dunedln and Invercarglll districts had a detrimental effect on the wool, which was for the most part poorly grown and shorter in staple than in tho previous season. INGLEWOOD SHEEP FAIR. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a good muster for Mr. Newton King's sheep fair at Ingle-wood on Monday, 9th Inst., somewhere about 5000 being yarded, and In-spite of the heavy rain with which the day began there were enough buyers present to give life to the sale. The prices realised were, on the whole, fully up to late rates, and, In fact, generally showed a hardening tendency. Sales wero effected at the following prices: Shorn lambs l(!s 3d, woolly lambs 16s 6d, culls 4s to lis, Down rams £1 16s 9d, aged ewes 10s 3d to 15s 2d, sound-raouthod ewes 23s to 255, two-tqoth wethers 28s to 255. four-tooth ditto 27s 6d to 30s. Considering that. Inglewood is in tho heart of an essentially dairying district, such a sheep fair as this may be claimed as very satisfactory.
