LABOR AT HOME.
CHEAPER BUTTER WANTED. DEMONSTRATION BY MINERS. By Telegraph.—Press .Assn.—Copyright. London, Feb. 9. The town crier at St. Just, Cornwall, called out the miners, who marched in procession through, the neighboring villages, inducing residents to join in a demonstration against the price of butter. The demonstration, reaching Penzance,, flung empty churns from motorlorries into the roadway, and emptied two full churns into the harbor. The miners declare that, unless the farmers reduce the price, the railwaymen will refuse to carry milk and butter. LONDON TRAFFIC. INCREASED FARES OPPOSED. London, Feb. % Several hundred trade union delegates attended a meeting in London to protest against the Underground Railways Bill, which is seeking authority to raise the fares. On the other hand, Mr. -T. H. Thomas, M.P. (General Secretary of the National Union of Railwaymen), says that increased wages are impossible without higher fares. The railwaymen will refuse to be sweated in order to provide the public with cheap travelling facilities —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
