ELTHAM.
; . ■ .j I (From Our Own Correspondent.) Feb. 10. An effort is to be made to revive the old Caledonian Society. Travelling 'round, one cannot help noticing the large amount of white clover in the pastures, and our friends the bee farmers must be reaping a harvest in honey. Potatoes will be scarce round here this year. The first lot were all frosted, and now the warm rain has brought along the blight. During the last week the County Council staff have been busily engaged on the Rawitiroa Road, repairing and widening the bends. A lot of work has been done, and both lorries were employed for days with metal, etc. ' At the special meeting on Friday evening, the Borough Council decided to borrow -€+ooo for a gas holder, £I6OO for the purchase of an education reserve, and a loan from the State Advance.? of £lO,000 for the erection of cottages.
