WELLINGTON HEALTH DISTRICT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Feb. 10. Influenza notifications in the Wellington, district in the past week totalled 910, compared with "iB" in the preceding week. There were 34 new cases diagnosed a# pneumonic, and 10 as severe. As the week progressed, however, the daily notifications fell off from 17Q on February 2 to eight yesterday. Wellington, Feb. 9. EPIDEMIC ON THE WANE. Christchurch, I-ast Night. From noon yesterday to noon to-day thirty notifications of "influenza, all of a mild typo, were maile to the Christchurch hospital authorities. There were six adto the hospital iu the same period. At' present there are twenty influenza patients in hospital, ten being mild eases and ten pneumonic. The majority of these cases are concerned with relapses, due to sufferers leaving their beds' too soon, or from some form of neglect, necessitating their removal to the hospital for treatment. The hospital officials regard the position as quite satisfactory and the impression is that the epidemic is on the wane.
