The quality of the rams on the whole was better than at the Palmerston -North Pair, but included a number of weak and effeminate rnms. which should never have been kept, for breeding purposes There was a very largo attendance, but buvers wero rather scarce except for very low-priced sheen Prom the outlet it became apparent tha*, the. supply was In excess of the demand, and It is a moot question if too many Itomtipy raflis are not being kept tn supply the demand for this clans of sheep To-day was devnt«l to r-ffer-ing Romneys and the results were anything but encouraging to breeders, except for a fev. really good lines. There was little oomne:',tio:i except for very low-priced rams, and little mora than half the entry changed hands at auction, but It Is understood that a fair amount of business was done privately after the sale In stud rams the top price got was 75 guineas for a very fine ram bred by .T Knight (FeildIng). who took the championship In this class at the show. A R. Fannin, a well-known Taihape breeder of good-constitutioned sheep, got 33 guineas and 30 guineas for his i<n> couple of really good rams, bred and grown nn high country. \V. Gibson. KHvitea, realised 22 guineas and 30 guineas for well-grown sheep. A few other fair lots madi 14 guineas to 20 guineas, and other sorts from 6 guineas to 11 guineas.
