MR. J. B. HIKE'S PETITION. The Gazette contains an announcement that the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, and Mr. Justice Chapman will adjudicate on the petition against the return of Mr. R. Masters as the Stratford representative in the next Parliament. The petition asks that a scrutiny may be made of the votes given and tendered, and that it may be determined that Mr. Masters was not duly elected, or returned and that his election was void, and that the petitioner, John Bird Hine, was duly elected and ought to have been returned. Alternatively it may be determined that the said Robert Masters was not duly elected or returned and thai the election was void.
