WAR HONORS.
THE TROUBLE IN AMERICA.
CRITICISM OF ADMIRAL SIMS.
Pi Telegraph.—^Press Assn.—Copyright, geceived Feb. 8. 11 p.m. Washington, Feb. 7. Mr. & Daniels (Secretary for the Naw), in evidence before a Senate Invesrtlgat ug Committee, said that after L'ontriw a law permitting foreign president Wilson directed the p'qte Department to notify the '-uroi ean .uvernments that the United States am not -wish any decorations. In the meantime Admirals liodman, Strauss and Sims had accepted decorations. Admirals Rodman and Strauss desired to refuse them, but they accepted lest their refusal would offend Britain. Admiral Sims held that a decoration would have a valuable effect on the moral fighting efficiency. Mr. Daniels further alleged that Admiral Sims told the Congressional representatives at Parjs during the war that General Pershing failed to break the German lines and that the American Navy played a small part compared with the British. Air. Daniels accordingly refused Admiral Sims' decorations, because he had become a British propa-gandist.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
