THE TALLOW MARKET. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Feb. 1. Tallow.—One thousand three hundred and three casks offered, 153 sold, price unchanged. Stocks 8829 tons, imports 4524 tons, deliveries 3177 tons. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Feb. 5. Oats.—Algerian 6s 4d to 6s 6d, Tasinanian 6s 9d to 7s. Barley —Cape, nominally 7s. Maize —los 6d. Potatoes—Tasmanlan, nominal. Onions.—S2o to £22. Adelaide, Feb. 5. Oats.—ss 6d to 5s 7d, Melbourne, Feb. 6. Hides.—Brisk demand, rates realised show a half-penny and a penny advance. Barley.—English, 7s to 7s 3d; Cape 6s to 6s 6d. Oats.—Algerian milling 5s 9d to 5s lOd; feed 5s 4d to 5s 6d. » Potatoes.—£7 to £8 10s. ' Onions.—£ll 10s to £l2. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. Chrlstchurch, Feb. 4. At the Addlngton market a Arm demand pre'railed for practically all classes. Store sheep constituted the largest yarding of the soason, but were comprised mostly of lambs. The tone was very firm, recent value* being fully maintained, particularly for forward lambs. Forward laimbs made from 22s to 245, ordinary 18s 8d to 21s 6d, inferior 14s to 18s 9d, culls 8s Id to 13s lid, 2-tooth half-breed ewes to 265, 4 and 6-tooth ewes (North Island) to 25s 2d, full-mouth ewes 19s 9d to 23s 9d, 6tootli wethers 27s 3d, ordinary 18s 9d to 245, inferior 15s to 17s. Fat Lambs.—A firm tone prevailed throughout, the freezing buyers acquiring" the bulk of the entry. Extra prime lambs made to 35s 4d, prime 28s 5d to 32s 4d, medium 24s lOd to 28s, lighter 21s 6d to 24s 6d. . Fat Sheep.—The demand was keen and prices were from 4s to 2s bettar than last week. Extra prime wethers made to 45s 10d, prime wethers 37s 3d to 43s lOd, medium 31s to 36s 6d, lighter 24s 6d to. 30s, prime eiwes 35s 9d tn 41s Id, medium ewes 2!)s 9d to 34s Id, lighter 22s to 235. Fat Cattle.—Extra prime steers made £26 10s to £2B ss, prime £2O 12s to £25 15s, medium £ls 2s 6d to £l9 10s, lighter £l2 17s 6d to £l4 12s 6d, prime heifers £l2 17s 6d to £ls, lighter £7 17s 6d to £lO 12s 6d. prime cows £l4 to £l9 ss, light and inferior cows £9 15s to £l3 12s 6d, average per 1001b £2 2s 6d to £2 15s, Dairy Coiws.—The demand was moderate. Good first calvers made to £l4, third and fourth calvers £l3 to £l4. Store Cattle. —Dry cows made to £7 17s 6d, empty heifers £4 12s 6d to £6 10s, 3-year-old steers to £l2 10s, yearling to 18-months-old cattle £3 12s 6d to £4. Ve'alers —Runners made to £ 8 2s ltd, medium runners £5 5s to £6 15s lid, good vealers £3 17s 6d to £4 los, medium calves £2 2s 6d to £2 17s 6d, small and inferior calves 6s to 255. Fat Pigs.—Medium fat pigs were In very good demand. Prices were equal to late rates. Choppers made £5 10s to £8 10s, heavy baconers £7 14s to £B, ordinary £6 to £6 15s (the average price per lb was ll%d), heavy porkers £4 10s to £5 ss, ordinary £3 15s to £4 5s (average price 10% d to lid per lb). Store Pigs—There was a fair entry. The/ best stores made £3 8s to £3 18s, medium' £2 8s to £2 18s, small £2 to £2 13s, weanars 25s to 38s, sows In pig £B. BURNSIDE. Dunedln, Feb. 4. There were full supplies of fat stock In all departments at Burnslde to-day. Prices on the whole were somewhat easier, with the eiceptlon of pigs. In the face of these reductions it is highly probable that a reduction in the retail price of meat will follow. Quotations:—Best bullocks £l2 to £24, medium £lB to £l9, inferior £l3 to £l4. Best crws—Heifers £l3 10s to £ls, medium £ll to £J2 10s, Inferior to £lO lis lOd. There was a large yarding of store cattle, which comprised various grades of quality. There were good yardings of fat sheep." The yardlngs were of mixed quality. Extra prime heavyweight wethers made from 50s to 60s, prime to #«. to UekUf Ma*
upwards. Extra prime heavy-weight ewe's made up to 55s (3d, prime 35s to 435, medium 30a to 345, light and aged made from 23s up* wards. There was a large yarding of fat lambs. Prices ranged from 14s to 32s a head, best brought 28s to 325, medium 23s to 255, inferior 19s to 21s, stores lis to 14s. There was a medium yarding of pigs. Best baconers made from Is to Is Id per lb, and b*st porkeTS from Is Id to Is 2d per lb. Store pigs were in keen demand.
