TWO CHILDREN DROWNED.
A TRAGEDY AT GISBORNE. By Telegraph.—Press Association Gisborne, Last Night. A drowning accident at Kaiteratahl late this afternoon resulted in the death of two children, Zona May Lasker, seven years, and William Lasker, eight years. Their father, C. Lasker, is forem&jt in the freezing works. It is stated the children, accompanied by a Maori boy named Waaka, were sent at 4.30 p.m. to a store for bread. About 5 p.m. Waake arrived at the store and told a lad named Cameron that the two Lasker children went in to bathe and never came up. He said he saw bubbles arising on the surface. An alarm was given and a number of persons dived for the bodies, which were recovered at 530 p.m. Artificial respiration was applied, but it wag of no avail.
