TANGITU AXEMEN'S SPORTS.
(From a Correspondent). The Tangilu Axemen's .Sports were held mi January 23rd, and, although Iho weather was very unfavorable, the meeting proved a great success. Enthusiasm over the sawing and chopping events ran very high. The officials were:—Patron, W. T. Jennings; president, C. Musker; vice-presidents, S. Kennington. 0. Jensen, H. Lnrse.n, ,1. T. Hayes, R. Dowman 1, S. Tuhi 2. Pony Jump:—J. Nelson, 1; M. Putt, Sheep finessing (live weight) :—V. and W. Larsen tied; dead weight, J. F. Hayes, 1. Stepping-the-Chain:—R. I»\ Larsen, 1. A beautiful fold medal, given as a points prize by Mr. W. A. Hewitt (manager of the N.Z. Loan and. Mercantile Agency, Stratford)., (was won iby ®. Tutu. Children's competitions were held (liroughout, the day, being very ably conducted hy Mrs. <j. Jensen. In the evening a very enjoyable dance was held in the Mntnu School, dancingbeing continued until the early hoars of the morning. Mr. C. IT. Lnrsen carried out the duties of secretary most efficiently.
