During January the Stratford Borough Council issued permits for eight building works, ranging in value from one hundred to thousands, the total being £10,300. The meteorological report shows that the rainfall in Stratford during January was a record, the total being 14.53 inches. The heaviest fall was on Saturday, 24th, 2.81 inches. Other figures are: Ist, .01; 2nd, .51; 3rd, .05; 4th, 2.51; 11th, 1.81; 13th, 0.3; 14th, 0.74; 15th, .44; 16, .05; 17, .14; 18th, .47; 19th, 1.70; 20th, .49; 22nd, .18; 23rd, 1.29; 24th, 2.81; 30th, .23; 31st, .98. As the result of Stratford being made the administrative centre of the Farmers' Co.-op. Society's North Taranaki operations, some additions to the personnel to the local staff are now announced. Mr. T. J. Samon (late of the !• nd office at Hawera) will manage the loc-al branch, and Mr. N. B. Fletcher joins as lands salesman. Mr. A. D. MacPheraon remains in charge of the produce d.partment, and Mr. A. Stewart will continue in hip capacity as stock agent. Slight alterations have been made to the offices and extra clerical staff installed.
