As a result of recent inquiries by the New Zealand Department of Agriculture as to the prospects for Do-minion-grown fruit in South America, n. cable message has just been received, which enables the. department to make a definite announcement on the Bubject to growers in this country. The message states that the probable, price which New Zealand apples will realise in South America will be 15s per case, and that the fruit should be sent in cold storage. The freight will be heavy. In view of this it has been decided to lir>it the Government guarantee of Id per lb, on the export of apples to 1000 cases for South America, so as to afford an opportunity of catching the market there.
