Dimedin, .Tan. 29. At the University Senate, Mr. J. A. Ilanan said ithat, in order to secure the further study of science subjects in State secondary schools by the annual award of four special government scholarships, he would move "That the Minister of Education be respectfully «\sked to make provision for such scholarships this year." The motion was carried, the proposed scholarships were to be awanled on examination by means of entrance scholarships or the entrance scholarships and matriculation papers in combination, candidates being obliged to take the science papers in scholarship examination and to qualify for matriculation, taking the whole examination into account.
