TRAMWAYS CONFERENCE.
DOMINION AWARD AGREED ON. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 28. The National Conference to consider the demands of the Tramway Employees' Federation for a Dominion award opened to-day. All concerns affected, with the exception of Auckland City Council and the Auckland Union, were represented. ,There was a general expression of. opinion in favor of a Dominion award and it was decided to inform Auckland of this and request the attendance of J the northern delegates to-morrow. The Mayor of Wellington strongly supported the idea of a Dominion agreement and said separate Agreements for the North and South Islands would not be tolerated.
The Hon. J. Barr strenuously denied the statement that the Christchurch Tramway Board was the stumbling block to a Dominion ngreemcnt. The conference will resume work tomorrow.
