MARSHAL FOCH.

SUGGESTED BRITISH TRIBUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn,—Copyright. Received Jan. 28, 2.25 p.m. Paris, Jan. 24. It transpires that Mr. Lloyd George, during one of M- Clemenceau's visits to London, suggested that Britain might suitably acknowledge the people's indebtedness to Marshal Foch by a gift equal to that voted to Lord Haig, but M. Clemeneeau, on the ground that such gifts were not customary in France, declined. Mr. Lloyd George told Marshal Foch of his offer. The' latter replied that in the event of the gift being made he would distribute the money among French war relief organisations.—Renter Service. [Britain voted! .Lord Haig £100,000.]
