In the lawn tennis doubles Kingscote, who had recovered, and Beamish beat Newton and Cross, o—l, 7—5, 7—5; Anderson and Lowe beat Goodman and Reid, 7—5, 45—3, 7—5. Lowe and Bcainish will reach New Zealand early in March to fill engagements as arranged by the tennis authorities. Received Jan. 25, 5,5 p.m. Sydney, Jan. 25. Singles—Lowe beat Jordan; Beamish heat Reach; Anderson beat Cleraenger; O'Hara Wood beat Neil; Marsh beat riioinas. " Doubles— Anderson and Lowe beat Jordan and Arya.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable. Patterson, who is suffering from an ln Jured arm, lost two seta to Taylor (Adelaide.) The latter then retired as lie was compelled to return home. Subsequently it was announced that Patterson had withdrawn from the tournament. Brookes is also unable to plav further in the doubles.
