STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) (All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr. H. I. Hopkins, bookseller, will recelM prompt attention.) Jan. 23. Mr. D. McMillan, builder, has lately been engaged in making additions to the Presbyterian Sunday School. By extending the width of the building, five class rooms, each capable of seating from 1-2 to IS children, have been added. This will enable each class to be conducted without interruption by another class as was the case when one room had to serve for nearly the whole of the children. The work will be completed early next week. The site of the new post office has at length been decided upon. To-day the Town Clerk (Mr. P. Skoglund) received the following message from the Mayor (Mr. J. W. McMillan), who is at present in Wellington: "The Postal Department is advising the Minister to acquire the railway sit* l , which they consider best for the post office." This means that the new post office will remain practically where it is, the site referred to being thnt on which York Buildings and two or three other shops stood until destroyed, by fire about eight or nine months ago. The petition against tlie return of Mr. Robert Masters as the member for Strat ford has been received by the Registrar nf the Supreme Court, SVellington, and (tie writ has been returned for service. The petition was signed by William H[l. Young, George Tlall and .T. B. Iline. The Chief Justice is being communicated with by the Registrar with a view to haviiisr two judges appointed to hear the petition. Lamason reports:—Last Saturday my usual weekly sale was held, when a ?ood entry of poultry came to hand: otiier lines market bare.
