" There was a big yarding to-day, especially of fat sheep and lambs, both of which fully maintained last week's values. Fat beef was easier, and was comfortably wltliin freezing -values. Store sheep were In weak demand. Pat Lambs.—The quality was up to the average, and the sale was a good one. Freezing buyers operated freely. Extra prime lambs made to 34s 6d, prime 28s 4d to 32s 8d; medium 24s 7d to 28s, lighter 21s to 23s lOd. Store Sheep—Good rape lambs made from 18s to 225, ordinary 14s to 17s 6d, -cull and Inferior lambs 5s 8d to 12s 6d, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 23s to 28s Od, backward 4-tooth wethers 16s 3d to 17s 9d, good 2-tooth wethers 19s to 20s 4d, ordinary 18s 9d, cull 2-tooths lis 6d to 13s 6d, good 2-tooth ewes 22s 6d to 25s 6d, ordinary 19s 6d to 21s 9d, good 4 tooth ewes to 25s Bd, good 2-tooth to 22s sd. aged and Inferior ewes 8s to 13s 6d, Fat Cattle.—Prices were distinctly easier for all classes. Extra prime steers made to £29 5s Id, prime £2l 2s 6d to £27, medium £l6 to £l9 12s 6d, lighter £ls ss, prime heifers £l6 to £l9, lighter £9 to £l4 2s 6d, prime cows £l3 2k to £l7, light and inferior £9 to £l2 15s. Fat sheep.—The demand was good and the sale proceeded with animated prices, ranging from 2s to 2s 6d, tetter than those of the preceding week. Extra prime wethers made to 44s 9d, prime wethers 37s 5d to 425, medium wethers 31s to. 37s 2d, extra prime ewes to 50s S'd, prime ewes 34s 6d to 395, medium ewes 29s 3d to 345, lighter ewes 22s Id to 28s. Store cattle.—A fairly big entry. Potting prices have been reduced by 2d per lb., and tills class was something of a drug. Prices were generally easier. Three-year steers made £8 10s to £9 10s, 2-year steers to £6 2s 6d, 15-month cattle £2 10s to £3 ss, store cows £3 10s to £7 10s. Dairy Cows.—An average yarding and a particularly keen demand. Values ranged to £l4 15s for good cows, and ordinary to £l2. Heifers made up to £lO Ms, Vealers —A smaller yardine and better competition. Runners imade to £9 15s, good vealers £3 10s to £4 ss, fair vealers £2 5s to £2 17s 6d, small and Inferior 8s to 30s. Pigs.—A smaller entry, and the usual good demand. Extra heavy baconers £9 to £9 18s 6d, ordinary £5 15s to £7 (average price per lb ll%d to Is); heavy porkers £4 5s to £5, ordinary S3 10s to £4 (average price per lb. Is Id); choppers £5 to £lO. Store Pigs.—Values were fully maintained. Best stores brought from £4 5s to £4 18s, medium to £3 7s, small £2 155,: weaners 2?s to £2, sows in pig £0 17s 6d. '

BURNSIOE. _ ~ , Dunedin, Jan. 21. At Bumside sale to-day there wero good supplies in all departments of fat stock, with the exception of pigs. Both beef and mutton were somewhat easier In price. Lambs were a little firmer if anything, soiling in advance of very high rates lately ruling. Fat cattle: Quotations! were:—Extra prima bullocks to £26, prime bullocks £l9 to £2l, good £l7 to £lB 15s, medium £l4 to £ls 10s, extra prime heifers to £l7 12s, prime £l3 to £l4 ss, imedlura to good £lO to £l2. Sheep: Prime wethers made from 41s to 455, medium 30s to 40s, lighter kinds 30s upwards. Prime ewes made 37s to 41s 9d, medium 32s to 365, light aged from 24s upwards. Fat lambs: The quality, with tiie exception of that of a few pon3, was not of a very high standard. The demand was good at an advance in price of from Is to Is 6d per head. Prices ranged from 20s to 32s Od per head. Pigs: A small yarding, the supply being insufficient for requirements. In consequence of tills, all classes met with a ready sale at prices a little in advance of last weeVs rates. Best baconers made from Is to Is ]%d per lb, best porkeis, from Is id to Is 2'Ad per lb. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. At Urenul on Monday, 19th Inst., I report a fair yarding of both Bheep and cattle. With the exception of a few pens of 18 to 20month steers a good all round sale for cattle resulted, the whole yarding being cleared at the hammer. Yearling steers made £3 Us store cows £7 to £8 2s 6d up to £9 lis for fonrard Borts, heavy bulls £l3 to £ls 10s, _ others £8 to £lO, dairy cows (in milk) At Whangaunomona, on 21st Inst., I held a sheep and cattle sale in conjunction with the N.Z.L. and MA. Co. Rough weather the previous few days hindered mustering, consequently many of tho advertised lines did not come forward. Outside buyers were in attendance for s!»eep, good 2-tooth ewes made 2is, 2-tooth wethers 26s (id, 4-tooth do 31s 6d to 32s 9d. Tho cattle yarding comprised mostly steers of inforlor quality and size for which there was little demand, one pen of 3-year steers made £7 3s 6d, store cows £S 4s, cows and calves £7 17s 6d At Waiwakaiho, on 23rd ins}., I report a fair yarding of cattle, a few pens of sheep also coming forward. There was good enquiry for ail classes of cattle, a complete clearance resulting. Four pens of weaners were yarded and met with a ready sale Jersev heifers realising £4 12s 6d, colored heifers £2 Is, mixed weaners 30s to 39s 6d, fat cows £ll 2s Cd to £l3 12s 6d, store do £6 to £8 10s up to £lO for forward sorts, cows and calves £6 ss, bulls £8 10s to £l4 10s, choice 20month in-calf Jersey heifers £!) lOs other in-calf heifers £6 5s to £7 15s, 20-month steers £4 10s to £5 3s, do (Jerseys) £2 17s 6d 15-month do £3 7s Cd, heifers (springing) £9, calved) £B, springing cows £ll ss. The sheep offering showed rather poor quality with the exception of one pen of woolly anibs, which realised IDs 2d, a pen of smaller late shorn do making 12s; f.,m. ewes soldi from 12s to 235.
