Melbourne, Jan. 22. General Sir W. Birdwood, speaking at his welcome by the Minister, said that it would be the height of folly to rely on the League of Nations to ensure our defence. New Zealand and Australia must see eye to eye and work as one nation with one thought in matters of defence. He also advocated the closer union of India, New Zealand and Australia in defence matters.
