NEW PLYMOUTH'S COMMITTEE'S THANKS. On behalf of the local committee we desire to express sincere thanks to all who assisted to make the visit of the above orchestra to New Plymouth enjoyable and successful. A great deal of ■ gratuitous service was rendered r. connection with the occasion, for which the committee is sincerely grateful. Thanks are due in the first place to the guarantors for making the concert in New Plymouth possible, to those who assisted in the billeting of the members of the orchestra, and those who offered accommodation which it was not necessary to make use of; to the motor-car owners and drivers for giving the outing on Thursday afternoon; to those citizens who opened their grounds to the visitors; to the various hall committees and trustees who offered and loaned seats for the concert: to the local staff of the Defence Office for their assistance in connection with the preparation of the hall; and to the A. and P. Society for the free use OJf their annexe to the hall. The committee feel also that they would be failing in their duty if they did not specially mention their indebtedness to Mr T. H. Bates, who drew the plan of the hall arrangements, to Mr. R. Day, who carried out the details of the scheme and controlled the hall for the concert, to Messrs. Collier and Co. for taking ehara." of the box plan and day sales, and to Mr and Mrs C. H. Burgess for entertaining the visitors to afternoon tea at their country residence. They also appreciated the readiness with which shopkeepers offered to display window notices of the orchestra's' concert, and the generous support lent to the movement throughout by the local newspapers. On behalf of the committee. JAS. CLARKE, Mayor, Chairman ft. LAURIE COOPER, Hon. See.
