A.I.F. v. VICTORIA. By Telegraph.—Press As»n.—Copyrignt. Melbourne, Jan. 10. Victoria, in the second innings, scored 270—Mayne 54, Liddieut 47, Ferguson 35, Ellis (nbt out) 52, Carlton 32. Lampard captured seven wickets for 99. The A.IF. in the second innings lost four wickets for 77—Taylor 24, Gregory (not out) 23. The A.I.F. won by eight wickets. TO-MOROW'S MATCH. NORTH v. SOUTH TARANAKI. Keen interest is being shown by local cricketers in the match between the North and South Taranaki representatives, which takes place on the Boys' High School ground, New Plymouth tomorrow. In spite of the fact that North Taranaki defeated the Nomads with a comfortable margin of 7 wickets to spare and that the Nomads had a substantial balance to their credit in the match with South Taranaki, the latter are said to he confident of winning tomorrow's match. The northern team is a strong one and they are going into the match with equally high hopes of victory, and a stern contest is expected, in which some good cricket should be seen.

The northern team arrives by the mail train to-night, and play is to commence at 0.30 to-morrow morning. It is to be a one-day match. The recent rains should have* had a beneficial effect upon the ground, and given a fine day to-day the wicket should be in splendid condition. THE TEAMS. The following have been selected to represent South Taranaki: —Messvs Penny, Penfold, Fearon, Gunn, Hughes, Carey, McCarthy, Pratt, Beechey, Worrall. and Neilson. Emergencies: Messrs Marsh, Harrison and WhaUn. North Taranaki will be represented by the following:—Messrs G. C. Clarke, Egglestone, A. Hasell, J. Heskctt, E. G. Johnson, E. Lash, W. P. Nicoll, A. H. Osborne, I. W. Palmer, A- Bewley, and P. E. Stainton. [The last match between North, and South Taranaki took place in 1915, when the North won at New Plymouth by 4 runs. The season prior to that the match was played at Hawera, and won by the home team by 206 runs.]

THURSDAY COMPETITION. January 22.—Albion v. Uremii, at Pukekura. Park; Waireka v. Inglewood, at Tukapaj New Plymouth a bye. URENUI v. ALBION. The following team will represent Urenui in their match against Albion at Pukekura Park to-morrow:—C. Wilson, AV. Wilson, T. O'Neill, S. Managh, fl. P. Puller, W. Gilliver, G. Bertrand, H. Blundell, A. Mabin, 1. N. Fuller; emergencies, W. Skelton and D. Rumbal.
