FIGHT WITH THE MAHSUDS. A PLEA FOR PEACE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlehi. Received Jan. 18, 5.5 p.m. Delhi, Jan. 16. An official communique says the Mahsuds, who are opposed to peace in Anai Tangi, number three thousand- On the 14th inst the Derajat column met strong opposition and hand to hand fighting followed. The enemy losses were about four hundred, including 130 killed. Our casualties were 370. After the fight a leading Mahsiid, Manlike, sent in a petition asking for peace, guaranteeing to comply with our terms. The Mahsuds are believed to estimate their losses at seven hundred dead up to the lStti inst. We made several successful air raids.—Reuter Service.
