BOXING.
north taranaki association. A meeting of those interested in the fornution of a Boxing Association in New Plymouth was held .last night. There was anatteudance of about 20. Mr. S. G. Smith, M !° the chair, and expressed his willingness to assist such an association in the district aa long as the sport was kept clean.
.Mr. Gallagher, who had taken keen interest in the matter, expressed a hope that boxing would ho revived, and moved that an association be fonmed, to be called the Taranaki Boxing Association.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Richards, and after some discussion was amended, to be. named the X'nrtli Taranaki' Association, in which i>rm It was carried. Mr. C. H. Weston, was elected president (subject, to his consent), and tin following committee was elected to temporarily early tm the affairs of the association until a further meeting should be called: Messrs. \V. Richardson, E. Richards, E. Whittle, T. Smi'h, R. l'aul. .1. Garcia, and C. Gallagher. Mr. K. Clarke was elected secretary pro tem. It was decided to provisionally adopt the rules of the Southland Association, It was suggested that tile Associallor should take into consideration the question of establishing a local gymnasium. Some discussion took piaee on the question of the annual subscription, and 1' was agreed to suggest, to the next meeting to fix the fees at IDs 6d for active, and £] Is for honorary members.
