NORTH v. SOUTH TARANAKI. THI NORTH TEAM. The following - eleven hove teen chosen to represent North v. South Taranakl In the match to he played on the High School Ground on Thursday next, 22nd. Inst, commencing at 945 a.m.: G. C. Clarke, Esgle'stoqe, A. T. Hasell, J. Hesßett, E. G. Johnson, E. Lash, W. V. Klcoll, A. H. Osborne, I. W. Palmer, F. S. Bobertson, and P. E. Stalnton. OKAIAWA v. EXCELSIOR. Okalawa had a very easy win over Excelsiors at Hawera, on Wednesday/ the latter only maHng 29 to their opponents' 86 for five wlckefs. For Excelsior, Vowless batted nicely for 11, and was the only one to reach double figures. Penny got the capital average of six wickets for 11, and Sllnger secured two for six. For Okaiawa, Penfold hit hard and often for 37, Fearon 15, Marsh IC, not out, and Harrison 10 were the others to reach double figures. McCarthy, bowling well, got four wickets for 23, no other of the bowlers securing a wicket.
MANAIA V. MIDLANDS. The cricket match between Midlands and Manala was played at Mann In on Wednesday, but owing to heavy rain falling play was not finished, only the Hawera team batltng. The match will be completed at some future date. Midlands put up a very good score of 104. "Gunn," of Manala, took three wickets for one run, which is a very fine performance; Whalen, no wickets for 11; A. Hughes, no wickets for 15; X Hughes, three for 41; R. Carey, 3 for rfoT 30.
