N.S.W. ORCHESTRA.

! | TO-NIGHT'S CONCERT. ' ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED. All the arrangements for the concert of the N.S.W. State Orchestra, which is r to be given in the Coronation Hall tonight, have been completed. Mr. H. Sweeney, the advance agent of the orchestra, expresses himself as thoroughly satisfied with the preparations made, considering the great drawback the local committee have had to contend with in having no proper hall in which to stage the performance. Interest in the appearance of the orchestra here has developed rapidly during the past few days, and there are high expectations of seeing the hall filled to overflowing. The booking has exceeded all expectations, but there are still a few seats which may be reserved, and those who have not secured seats should lose no ' time in doing so this morning. A few ' teats have been placed in the gallery, ' and if the demand warrants it these will be placed on sale at 10s. ' Patrons are particularly urged to be \ in their seats early. Doors will be 1 opened at 7 o'clock.' 'fhe concert will ' commence punctually and no one will be ! allowed to enter or leave the hall while an item is being gij'en. •The local committee are exceedingly grateful for the response which has been ! made to the appeal for accommodation, both on the part of those who cater for ' the travelling public and by private citi- ' zens. As a matter of fact more accom- ■ modation was offered tliau was required, and the committee's thanks is extended . to those wlio offered rooms just as cordial- ■ ly as to those whose offers were taken ; up. The members of the orchestra arrive this morning and will be met at the breakwater by the Mayor and members of the local committee, who will accompany them to the railway station where hosts and hostesses will meet the visitors. Provided the weather is favorable an outing has been planned for any of the visitors who desire to avail themselves of a very delightful' opportunity of viewing some of our public and private gardens. Messrs Newton King and , T. C. List have very kindlv offered to , open their grounds at "Brooklands" and "Maranui" to the members of the or- [ chestra and friends to-day, and it has , been arranged to conduct a tour through Pukekura Park and then on through the private residences referred to. Members of the New Plymouth Tourist and Expansion League will be at the Park entrance at 10 o'clock in th& morning to meet any visitors and friends who desire to take advantage of this offer Messrs Sole Brothers also will give the same privilege in regard to their ",Aotea" property, Avenue Road. In the afternoon a motor outing has been arranged for the visitors. There has been a very good response to the appeal for motors for the occasion, though it is doubtful, if all the members desire to participate (and the committee hope they will), if there are quite enough to accommodate them all, and if there are any ear owners who have been overlooked in the canvass and who are willing to assist, their help will be prenHy appreciated. It is thought to divide the party up into groups and for several cars to take different routes, all meeting again at Mr. and Mrs Burgess' place, Junction Road, for afternoon tea from about 3 o'clock onwards. The party leave New Plvmouth tomorrow morning for Hawera*.
