MYSTERY OF THE SEA. VESSEL REPORTED LOST, By TeJegraph.—Press. Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 12. The reported loss of the steamer Mafalda. has mystified Europe. Every report is traced back to the same source, namely, a statement by El Secolo, but the owners and Lloyds do not confirm the reports.—United Service. [A cable from Paris, published yesterday, stated there were seven hundred on board the steamer Princess Kafalda, bound from the Argentine to Genoa. An unconfirmed report stated the vessel was mined and lost with all hands.] LOSS OF THE AFRIQUE. SURVIVORS PICKED UP. Received Jan. 15, 12.5 a.m. London, Jan. 13. The steamer Ceylon landed a considerable number of the Afrique's passengers and crew.—Times Service. [A cable published yesterday stated: "The steamer Afrique, bound to West Africa from France, was damaged in a gale, and when returning to port was sunk in a raging sea. Twenty-six survivors were saved with difficulty. Rcutar states that the Afrique was totally wrecked off La Rochelle, and only 26 of 465 passengers were saved."]
