GIRLS IN OFFICES.
OCCUPYING HEN'S POSITIONS. EX-SOLDIERS WITHOUT WORK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Allegations were again made at tonight's meeting of the Canterbury Repatriation Board that whereas girls win employed ia various offices* particularly Government offices, men clerks walked about the streets vainly looking for employment. Mr. Leadley, Secretary of the Returned Soldiers' Association, said in all the big centres in the North Island there were clerks out of employment, whilst flappers were doing the work. It was a shame girls should still be employed in Government offices, whilst men who had been regarded as heroes were now regarded as nuisances when they looked for work. He felt sure in many mercantile offices in Christchurch at present girls were being employed to do wetk performed by men before the war. The Board went into committee to disCttus the individual cases.
