In the Senate, Senator King and Senator Ashurst expressed the opinion that the Treaty would be ratified shortly. Senator King thought ill'. Bryan's intervention was likely to lead Uie Democrats to abandon their extreme opposition. Mr- Bryan had previously expressed the opinion that the Senate would ratify the Treaty in time to allow the United States to enter the League at its inception.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
