Governor, Sir Walter Davidson, narrowly escaped injury whiie travelling in a train near Mahlon Station, a stone being thrown through the window of his compartment. AN UNEMPLOYED DEMONSTRATION Brisbane, dan. 10. A meeting of unemployed was followed by a march to the Premier's office. The demonstrators were intercepted by the police who, after a struggle..-captur-ed a banner carried by the unemployed. Later an interview was arranged with the Premier and the crowd dispersed. DEAR POTATOES. Brisbane, Jan. 10. As a result of the shipping hold-up potatoes are sellinrr at the phenomenal price of £SO per ton. FIRE IN MELBOURNE. Melbourne, Jan. 10. A fire at Robinson and Marshall's wool flock mills, South Melbourne, caused damage estimated at £20,000.
