WELLINGTON T. CANTERBURY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night A representative cricket match, Wellington versus Canterbury, was commenced on the Basin Reserve tnis afternoon. The wicket was hard and dry. The Southerners batted first and were disposed of by 6 o'clock at a cost or 285 runs (Thomas 52, Blunt 40, O'Brien 25, Reese 27, Sandman 33, Watson 27). MoGirr secured four wickets for 88, Mlddleton 4 for 70. NOMADS V. WELLINGTON B. Wellington, Last Night. A match was commenced to-day between the Nomads, drawn from various parts of the North Island, and a Wellington B team. Wellington opened, the batting realising 250 (Wagstaffe 64, Stalnton 55, Aldetsley 36, and Fenttm 25). Bernau took four wickets for 79, and Latham two for 23. The Nomads, when stumps were drawn, had lost three wickets for 140 (Orton, not out 40, Arkwright 37, and Bernau 25). SOUTH TARANAKI MATCHES. Flaying at Hawera on Wednesday, Manaia defeated Excelsior, the latter club making 40 and 79 as against the visitors 155 (Hughes 30, Gunn, not out, 86). In Excelsior's second innings, Vowless made 33. At Okaiawa, the local club scored 117 in their first innings against Midlands, the latter only making 20 and 33 (Pratt 14, not out, arid 11), in their two ventures. Penny, in his second over, performed the hat trick.— Star.
