TARANAKI FORESTRY.

DISTRICT OFFICERS* MEETING. D.C.R. Bro. R. Geddes (Tnglewood) presided at a meeting of the district officers for Taranaki Foresters held at New Plymouth yesterday. Others present were: S.D.C.R. Bro.'A. Ward, D.W. Bro. J. Andrews, D.B. Bro. F. Coleman, and D.S. Bro. A. J. Tunbridge. Owing to the train curtailment last August the half-yearly meeting set down for Pa tin was abandoned, and the question of locality for the February meeting was discussed. The amount of business to he placed before delegates is fairly comprehensive and it was felt that the time taken up in railway travelling precluded Patea being visited on this occasion. Hawera, Stratford and Inglewood were reviewed, and it was then decided that the meeting should be held at Stratford on Tuesday, February 24, the session to open at 9.30 a.m. The valuation returns for the various courts throughout Taranaki were placed before the officers. These were up to 1915 and disclosed a very satisfactory state of finances. It was felt that when the next Government returns showing the total influenza mortality and war payments were available, the position would not be so satisfactory. The district officers meet again before the delegates assemble, when the report and other business to be discussed at Stratfor;' 'ill be decided upon.
