COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Jan. 8. In the Mercer Court Constance Elizabeth Parsonage, previously described as Holts, was committed for trial at the Supreme Court on a charge of murder of her infant daughter by immersing it in a creek at Pokeno. Br. Murray, who visited accused in Ml. Eden Gaol, expressed the opinion that she was insane when she committed the act. SOUTH ISLAND AIK SERVICE. Cliristchureh, Jan. 8. Captain Dickson, of the Canterbury Aviation Company, has just completed an overland trip from Blenheim to Nelson, undertaken with the object of ascertaining the lay of the land and the possibility of establishing an air service between Christehurch and the northern parts of the Island in view of a crossing to the North Island at a later date. He was favorably impressed with the prospects and estimates a two hours' flight from Christehurch to Blenheim ant' less than an hour from Blenheim to Wellington. TJNDESntED IMMIGRANTS. Moses Baritz, lecturer under the auspices of the Marxian Society, who arrived a few weeks ago from Sydney, first lectured on Grand Opera, and then on social subjects, including Bolshevism. He is understood to be the first person to whom the provision of the Undesired Immigrants Exclusion Act last session has been applied. He has been requested by the authorities to leave for Sydney by the Moeraki. They have power to arrest bim, but that power has not been exercised on certain conditions.

THE RAILWAY OFFICERS' INSTITUTE. Wanganui, Jan. 8. A meeting of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute passed a resolution unanimously that this branch demands that the executive make strong and urgent representations calling on the management to fulfil the terms of the agreement entered into with the Railway Officers' j_ n . stitute at the April conference; also that members reduced in grade in the last classification list be restored to their original positions. The resolution further points out that although fte management promised liberal promotions they have failed signally in this respect, especially in old grade 9, where the promotions were nil.
