THE PRINCE OF WALES.

MAY ACT AS GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 5. While no precedent exists for tern-, porary appointments of visiting Royalty as Governor-General, the Colonial Office views sympathetically the suggesttion that the Prince of Wales should act for a short period in Australia if this could be arranged with the King's and Government's approval. It is admitted that it would afford a unique opportunity to pay a graceful compliment to Australia, but it is pointed out that New Zealand is jointly concerned in the visit. —United Service.
