RACIAL RIOT AT BROOME. By Telegraph.—Press Asan.—Copyright. Perth, Jan. 7. A serious racial riot is reported from Broome between Malay and Ambovna pearlers. One death has resulted. GOOD RAINS IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, Jan. 7. Bounteous rains over wide grazing areas have enhanced the prospects of feed and stopped the rush on the stock market which marked the drought period and rushed up prices of beef on the hoof, which sold up to tenpence a pound, a record. Retail butchers from to-day advance prices 25 per cent., many cutting out beef as too dear to handle. So far the worst western drought areas have benefited little by the rain. DECREASE MINERAL OUTPUT. Sydney, Jan. 7. Preliminary figures indicate a considerably decreased mineral output in Ifll!) compared with 1018. The decrease was mainly due to drought and industrial troubles. QUEENSLAND FINANCES. Brisbane, Jan. 7. In the Legislative Assembly the Budget was presented. It anticipated a deficit of £1,093,727, which will be wiped out bv increased taxation, including increased income tax and railway fares and freights. VOTING ON THE REFERENDA. Received Jan. 7. 8.20 p.m. Sydney, Jan. 7. The final New South Wales voting for extending the Federal Government's legislative powers is:—Yes, 259,638; No, 390.296.
