Constable Rankin, of Balmain, discovered Moran who was conveyed bv the Civil Ambulance to the hospital, where he was operated upon. Two of the bullets had entered the left shoulder, and the third had lodged in the right collarbone. A curious feature of the tragedy lies in the fact that Moran refused to divulge the identity of his assailant Questions were put to him at first by the ambulance men, but he refused to say who shot him. Upon hi? arrival at the hospital he was closely questioned by the police. His replies indicated that he knew the person who fired at him, but he still maintained hie attitude of silence.

Moran's wife was sent for, and her appeals to him to reveal th-s name of his assailant met with a steadfast refusal. The onlv information he volunteered was to the effect that during the aftevnoon he played dominoes at a publichouse in the vicinity of his home. Later, with a few companions, he went to a house at Red Lion Street, and had a few drinks. He was just leaving the place when he was shot.
