IRELAND.

A NEW SECRET SERVICE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 4. The Scotland Yard and Dublin authorities are co-operating in the development of a highly efficient secret service for Ireland. Picked detectives are engaged in a battle of wits with the Sinn Feiners. It is admittedly a marvellous intelligence system. The Sunday Times' Dublin correspondent says that well-known suspects are continuously watched and their movements recorded in innumerable dossiers. Where photographs are not obtainable detectives stalk their quarry patiently and secure snapshot*. The only handicap to the authorities is the absence of informers, who were available in former times.—United Service.
