SCORES KILLED IN MEXICO. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlgat. Received Jan. 5, 10.4 p.m. Mexico City, Jan. 5. Scores are reported to have been killed by a violent earthquake which affected many parts of Mexico. The centre of the disturbance is believed to be near the volcano Orizaba. The State of Vera Cruz suffered the greatest damage. Wild scenes of panic W6re enacted here. Many natives rushed to the churches, where they prayed. A similar panic occurred at Toluca, Cueranavca and Puebla. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

[Orizaba is a dormant volcanic mountain on the border line between the States of Puebla and Vera Cruz. It is the most lofty summit in Mexico, its altitude being "18,200 feet.]
