THE SUGAR MARKET.
NOjOIAL SUPPLIES AVAILABLE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Prime Minister stated to-day that by arrangement with the head office of the Colonial Sugar Company an officer has been appointed by the Board of Trade to work in conjunction with the company's Auckland manager in connection with the distribution of sugar as from to-morrow. The proposed allocation of sugar will be on a percentage basis, worked on average arrangements covering the last three vears- The distribution will be as follows: (1) Household requirements! (2) Essential industries.
The officer appointed for the purpose will assume responsibility for the fair allocation of the sugar available. An ondeavor will also be made to overcome the difficulties of distribution occasioned by the uncertainty of coastal xhipping. The Colonial Sugar Company Anticipate being able to supply normal demands from now onwards, provided there is no Interruption to shipping.
