THE PAPITUTU CLIMB.

To the Editor. Sir,—As a visitor to New Plymouth, and one who recently made the ascent of the famous Parit'utu, I noticed the wire rope, through age, has worn nearly through. Of bourse all climbers cTo so at their own risk, but would it be too much to ask the Borough Council to have a new'rope to replace the one almost broken now? , The City Fathers are more or less responsible for the safety of the life and limb of the community, therefore the request is not unreasonable. Better to supply a new or «econd-hand wire rope in good preservation than to have an urgent call for the local ambulance some. day. The climb with a rope, is not a dangerous one, but without it, the writer would not attempt it. nor allow others to do so.—l am, etc., ' ?H© BON© PtfBUCQ.
