He left before Captain Ross Smith, who has made the flight to Australia, having left London in October. A fog at Boulogne, and then an accident and bad weather at Cologne, were his first troubles. Then, after some delay, he set out down the Rhine, making for the Balkans, but was held up for a long timo by bad weather, and whenever he made a new move some unfavorable conditions quickly arrested his progress.]
