WAR IN RUSSIA?
RETIREMENT OF KQLTCHAK. DENIKIN HIS SUCCESSOR. By Telegraph.-—Press Assn.—Copyright. I Received Dec. 31, 1.50 a.m. New- York, Dec. 29. The Washington correspondent of the Times states that Mr. R. Lansing (Secretary for State), has announced that the State Department has been informed that Koltchak has appointed Semenoff commander of all the Russian forces east of Lake Baikal. Official circles interpret this to mean that Koltchak will shortly retire from the leadership in Siberia, and his successor will probably be Denikin.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
