£:*- DEATH FROM BURNS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Dec. 29. Catherine Benjamin, a married woman residing at Rocky Nook, died in hospital from burns caused by her nightdress catching fire from a lighted candle. SAD CASE OF DROWNING. Greymouth, Dec. 29. A sad case of drowning occurred on Lake Brunner on Saturday. Two brothers, Ernest and Lewis Goodwin, went goatshooting in a frail craft and on their not returning in the evening, a search was made. A body was discovered washed up on the beach, it being that of Lewis, in six feet of water. So far there ha; been no trace of the other brother. Ernest was 25 and a returned soldier; Lewis was I' 7. Great sympathy is felt for the Goodwin family as they have already lost two sons on active service.
