WATER DIVINER.
AUSTRALIAN'S GIFT. A STORY OF ANZAC. London, D:>e. 10. Stephen Kelly, a former Australian sapper, and the discharged soldiers' candidate for Lambeth in (he December elections, has been warded .£25 damages against the Brixton Free Press.for libel in connection with his candidature.
An interesting point was revealed during the hearing of the case. Kelly is a gifted water diviner, and discovered hundreds of springs on the Peninsula, including at Gallipoli. Tie was wounded in the. disastrous advance of fiOO of the Light Korse, in which only three returned unwounded.
General Hughes, aware of his gift, came to Kelly's stretcher, and told him th.it unless water was found in a week the surrender or death of the Anzac forces was inevitable. Kelly offered to find water, and next day discovered a wejl yielding 2000 gallons hourly within a few yards of headquarters.
