M, Hitchcock (Loader of the Democrats) to outline the basis of the compromise into which the Democrats will enter. This outline will be submitted to Senator 11. C. Lodge (Leader ot the Republican), and, in the event of his refusing to enter any compromise, they will repudiate his. leadership in the Senate and attempt independently to formulate a compromise on the treaty wind! will be assured the requisite votes' m the Senate.— Aus.-N.Z.
