ADDINGTON. Christchurch, Dec. 23. At tho Addition market to-day there was a small yarding of fat stock, except sheep, the yarding of which was of average size on account of a shipload of Chatham Is'ands sheep arriving. The demand for fat caltle was keen, and Improved values were realised, but sheep and lambs were slightly easier. Store sheep—There was a big decrease 111 the yarding, and somß sorts were hard to quit Two-tooth wethera 19s 7d to 23s sd, Inferior and low-conditioned lambs and ewes 15s Id to 15s 9d (all counted), two-tooth ewes 23s 9d to 255, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 24s 9d to 295, 4, 6 and 8-tooth wethers 27s 3d to 30s 2d, good 4-tooth ewes 29s 6d.

Fat lambs—s33 were yarded compared with 3400 last week. The quanty was very good, but in view of the big buying of the previous week by butchegrs and the uncertainly in the position, there was a slight easing in th 6 demand Extra prime lambs to 30s lOd, prime 27s 6d to 30s Id, medium 23s lOd to 27s 3d, lighter 18s 6d to 23s 3d Fat cattle—A small yarding of 129, the bulk being of good quality. Values were up from twenty to forty shillings compared with the preceding week. Extra prime steers to £33 5s Id, prime £24 to £29, medium £l7 10s to £22 15s, light £l3 to £ls, prime heifers £l3 15s to £23, lighter £6 to £lO 15s, extra prime cows £24 10s, lighter and inferior £9 2s 6d to £l6 12s 6d, average prime per 1001b £2 12s 6d to £8 6s Fat sheep—The quality was somewhat better than the average. The sale kept near late rates In the earlier half, but values fell away towards the finish except for a few very good pens. Extra prime wethers to 41s 3d, prime 37s 3d to 40s 7d, medium 32s 5d to 36s Td, lighter 27s to S2s 3d, prime ewes 35s 3d to S9s, medium 29s 7d to 34s 3d lighter 22s 9d to 28s Od.

Vealers.—There was a moderate yarding and a slack demand for veal, but best runners sold up to £8 ss. Good vealers. 30s to 52s Pigs—There were small yardlngs and a keen Gd; fall- to medium 16s to 27s 6d. sale. Twp : plece choppers brought £l6 each, heavy baconers £8 to £8 17s 6d, medium £<! 5s io £7 15s, lighter £5 to £5 15s Id, (average per lb, Is); heavy porkers £4 10s to £6 ss, light £3 103 to £4 5s (average price Is to Is l%d). Store pigs.—A small yarding and easier prices. Medium stores £3 16s, small 3Ss to 40s, weaner3 2ls to 40s.

BURNSIDE. flie imost important item at the Burnside sales to-day from the public point of view was the lamb sale. Fortunately, good snppl.es came forward, thus assuring housewives their dainty joints for the festive season. Prices were somewhat easier. The yardings in other departments were a.uite ample for requirements, with the exception of fat cattle, which were in short, supply for a. double sale. There was a _ small yardtofi of fat cattle, numbering 13". For a double sale this was a very small supply, and it was anticipated that values would be on a higher level than late ruling rates. Compared with last week prime cattle were up about 10s to 15s per head. Prime heavy bullocks to £3O 12s 6d, medium from 522 10s to £24. others from £l7 upwards. Best cows and heifers sold to £lB, others from £l2 upwards. There was a medium yarding of she]'., numbering 1440 head, of fair quality. This number was ample for requirements, and va'lies wre practically on a par with last week's rates. The major portion ot the sheep offered were shorn, onlv a small proportion being in the wool. Woolly wethers made from 40s to 555, and woolly ewes from 36s to 50s, prime shorn wethers made from 40s to 455, medium 35a to 375. lighter kinds from 30s upwards; prime shorn ewes made from 39s to 43s 6d. imedlum 32s to 37s (Id light and aged from 25s upwards. In lambs there was by far the largest, yarding this season, numbering 1887 head. The quality on the whole was good. As quite a number of butchers had secured supplies in the country values were easier. Prime iambs made from 2Ss Gd to 31s 9d, medium 25s to 27s Cd Inferior kinds from 20s upwards. There' was a medium yarding of pigs, and a keen demand, prices being practically on a par with last, week's rates. Prime baconers made from lid to ll%d per lb, and prime porkers from Is to Is 2d per lb.
