There are serious floods in the East and South-east Departments, owing to the overflowing of the rivers Mcurthe and Moselle. The large factories have closed and several deaths are reported at Nancy. The railways between Nancy and Metz arc interrupted and the flooding of the old trench systems at Bois le Pretre increases the danger. Seven hundred silk textile factories on the Vosges are under water. The overflowing of the Somme and Rhone also < a"=cd considerable damage. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
