MAIL NOTICES.
NEW PLYMOUTH. Postal branch: Thursday Dec. 25, and Thursday January 1 (Christmas and New Year's Days), will bo observed as close holidays. On Friday, December 26 (Boxing Day), the post office will be open In all branches, except Money OTder and Savings Bank, from 9 a.m. to 10 am. , The telegraph office will be open on Thursday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), from 10 a.m. to 10 30 a.m, and from 5 to 530 pm. On Friday, Dec. 26 (Boxing Day), and Thursday, January 1 (New Year's Day), the hours will be from 9 am. to 12 noon, and 7 p.tn. to imidnlght. The telephone exchange will remain open continuously. Sunday hours will be observed in the private box lobby on Doc. 25 and January 1, usual hours on December 26 (Boxing Day). Mails usually despatched on Thursday will be closed Wednesday nights December 24 and 31, at J p.m. On December 26 (Boxing Day) the usual despatch of mails up to 8 a.m. will be> made. The railway travelling post office will run as usual.
Counter deliveries of town letters (Including registered) will be made on Wednesdays. Dec 24 and 31, from 8 to 9 p.m. Postmen will make ono complete delivery on Dec. 26 (Boxing Day), commencing at 7,30 a.m. There will be no delivery on either Christmas or New Year's Day. For Auckland and North, per s.s. Rarawa, Monday and Wednesday, at 7 p.m. MONDAY, JANUARY 5. For United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, United States of America, Central and South America, West Indies, via Vancouver; also, Honolulu, Japan, Fanning Isiland and Fiji (per s.s.
